On
May 2, 2001 Dr. Minerva Wheedleton presented Sungka, a game played
in the Philippines, to the students at Central Middle School in Thomasville,
GA.
On June 20, 2001 Our President, Dr. Henry A. Eugenio was interviewed by The
Young Adults. This was formerly known as Summer Reading Program and is
sponsored by the Thomas County Public Library. This year's theme is
"Extra, Extra, Read All About It!" and the objective is to create
a newspaper. The Young Adults are interviewing people on a variety of issues
and we, Filipinos, are honored to be included. Questions from the interview
were about language, religion, and products made in the Philippines. Also
was curiosity about clothing and the music that the Filipino children listen
to. The interviewers, Kiara Hottor, Jasmine Alexander, Brittney Ross, and
Tyrone Guin are from the McIntyre School. Joseph Moore is the Reference Assistant
coordinating the event. Smiles and enthusiasm dominated the interview as Dr.
Eugenio cheerfully responded, and all left the meeting with a sense of
friendship.
